From One Idea to a Movement of Hope, Every meaningful journey begins with a simple idea. Hope of Change was founded in 2023 out of a deep desire to address a reality that is often overlooked, the struggles of single parents. Behind every single parent is a unique story. Some have lost their spouses through death, others have experienced separation, abandonment, or other difficult life circumstances. While their stories differ, many share common challenges: emotional pain, financial pressure, social stigma, loneliness, and the overwhelming responsibility of raising children alone.

Recognizing these realities, our founder, Yong Harriette Nsang, envisioned a platform where single parents could find encouragement rather than judgment, support rather than isolation, and hope rather than despair. This vision gave birth to the Single Parent Club, a community dedicated to inspiring, educating, and empowering single parents to rebuild their lives with confidence and dignity.

What started as a simple idea soon grew into a vibrant online community where practical knowledge, encouragement, and real-life experiences were shared to help single parents navigate the challenges of everyday life.

As the community continued to grow, one thing became increasingly clear: people needed more than motivational messages. They needed real conversations, practical guidance, and visible examples of resilience.

This realization inspired the introduction of our Outdoor Discussion Program.

Through this initiative, we began engaging individuals from diverse backgrounds including single mothers, single fathers, peace builders, youth coaches, leadership experts, counsellors, widows, social advocates, and community leaders to share their experiences and expertise on issues affecting families and society.

These conversations have addressed important topics such as single parenting, widowhood and resilience, responsible parenting, peaceful co-parenting, youth development, purpose discovery, leadership, rape awareness and social responsibility, family relationships, and personal growth and resilience.

Each discussion is designed not simply to tell stories, but to educate, encourage, inspire, and provide practical solutions that strengthen individuals, families, and communities.

Our journey has also extended beyond the digital space. As part of our commitment to community engagement, we carried out outreach activities including our visit to Mile 16, Buea, where we met with and encouraged single mothers facing various life challenges.

Over time, our vision expanded. We realized that many of the challenges affecting single parents were connected to broader issues affecting children, young people, families, and communities. To achieve this broader vision and create lasting impact, we formally registered as an Association.

Today, the organization proudly operates under the name Hope of Change.
